FAQ
Questions,
answered.
Most people who get in touch have never done this before, and there’s no threshold you need to reach first. If something has been weighing on you, or on your child, that’s reason enough to have a conversation. A first session is a low-pressure way to talk it through and decide together whether continuing feels useful.
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. There’s no expectation that you’ll have everything worked out or know where to start. It’s a chance to talk about what has brought you here, ask any questions you have about how the work happens, and get a feel for whether it’s a good fit — with no obligation to book further sessions.
It varies. Some people come with a specific concern and find a handful of sessions is enough; others value having somewhere to think regularly over a longer stretch. There’s no set program — the pace and length are worked out together and reviewed as you go, with no pressure to continue longer than is useful.
Young people aged 8–21 for individual therapy, and parents through pregnancy and early family life for perinatal support. EMDR and neurodevelopmental assessment are arranged case by case — get in touch if you’re unsure whether a particular service is a fit.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) uses guided eye movements while you briefly bring a difficult memory to mind, which helps the brain process and store that memory so it carries less charge. It isn’t about retelling the story over and over — for many people it’s a notably different experience to talk-based therapy.
Both. Sessions are held in person at the consulting rooms — Office 3, 88 Wilkinson Drive, Echuca — or via Telehealth anywhere in Victoria, whichever suits you. Neurodevelopmental assessments are held in person: usually at the rooms, though Aley also travels to complete assessments and can attend your child’s school. This will need to be explored with your school should this be a preference.
Bookings can be made by calling the practice, or by submitting an online enquiry or email.
Sessions are $260 per hour. Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, and private clients are welcome — no referral needed.
