About Aley Hooper
Aley brings a rich developmental perspective to her work with young people, as well as parents navigating early family transitions. Practical, thoughtful, and unhurried, her approach focuses on meeting clients where they are and tailoring support to their individual needs.
Having spent thirteen years in the classroom observing how young people learn, navigate challenges, and grow, Aley’s foundation as an educator directly informs her clinical practice as a psychologist today.
Teaching provided an invaluable perspective: years of direct, daily observation of child and adolescent development in real-time — under pressure, within social dynamics, and in the everyday moments that rarely appear in a standard clinical history. This ground-level insight was further deepened through senior secondary school leadership roles in Wellbeing and Learning Diversity, where she led systemic support for diverse learners and complex developmental needs.
Aley’s background also includes providing psychological support within unique, high-challenge educational settings, including Geelong Grammar School’s Timbertop campus. Supporting young people as they navigate profound personal growth, independence, and resilience away from home added a distinct dimension to her work. Combined with formal clinical training, this dual lens allows her to view human development with both practical depth and therapeutic rigour.
That same developmental perspective extends to her work in perinatal mental health. Aley views the transition to parenthood — through pregnancy, birth, and early family life — as a profound developmental window deserving of the exact same dedicated care, clinical focus, and respect.
Whether supporting a young person through a key stage of growth, guiding parents through the transition to early family life, or conducting targeted neurodevelopmental assessments, Aley’s focus remains the same: providing thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to individual needs.
“Whether it's a young person mid-growth or a parent finding their feet, the work is the same: meeting people exactly where they are, and taking that stage of life as seriously as it deserves.”
