Professional learning
for school staff.
Schools are asked to hold more complexity every year, usually without more time to do it in. Aley works with staff on the developmental and psychological questions that sit behind the hardest parts of the job — as a registered psychologist who spent thirteen years teaching in secondary classrooms before that.
Why this lands differently
Someone who has
done the job.
Most professional learning about young people is delivered by people who have never had to run a Period 5 class of twenty-six. Aley has. Thirteen years as a registered secondary teacher, including senior leadership roles in Wellbeing and Learning Diversity, and time at Geelong Grammar’s Timbertop campus supporting students through a demanding year away from home.
She then completed a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology and now practises as a registered psychologist, assessing and treating the same presentations schools are managing daily. When a student needs more than a classroom adjustment, wellbeing staff can refer them for assessment through the school referral form.
That combination is the point. Sessions are grounded in current developmental and clinical evidence, but the strategies are ones that survive contact with a real timetable, a real duty roster, and a staffroom that is already stretched.
What she covers
Two areas, covered properly.
Rather than a broad catalogue, Aley presents on the two areas she works in clinically every week. The topics below are indicative — final content is built with you once she knows your cohort, your staff, and what you are actually trying to shift.
How it's delivered
Four ways to
bring her in.
Engaging Aley
Content and fees
on application.
- Content
- Nothing is delivered off the shelf. Content is scoped with you first — the cohort, the staff in the room, the time available, and the specific problem the session needs to address. You see an outline before anything is confirmed.
- Fees
- Quoted per engagement, on application. Because scope, duration, travel and preparation vary considerably between a single staff session and a year of retained consultation, a fixed rate card would tell you very little. You get a firm figure before you commit.
- Professional learning hours
- Sessions are designed to map to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, so fully registered teachers can record them against the twenty hours of professional learning VIT requires each year. VIT does not accredit providers — teachers record their own learning at renewal.
Start with a conversation.
Tell Aley what your staff are grappling with and she'll come back with an outline and a figure. School enquiries do not go through the booking system.
